Megan Kane, RN

Megan is a firm believer that mental health has a variety of elements that all work together. She believes that someone’s overall mental health is typically determined by factors such as physical health, thoughts/emotions, behaviors, nutrition, environment, biology, childhood upbringing, social connections, socioeconomic status/occupational satisfaction, among other things. Because there are many different elements that can impact a person’s mental health, Megan believes that it is important to have a good understanding of how these elements impact our mental health, and how we can modify (or continue) some of them to provide us with the utmost happiness, peace, or overall satisfaction in our lives.

Megan takes pride in building and maintaining interpersonal relationships and seeing people grow and thrive as individuals. She believes that creating a calm environment and practicing gratitude in our day is very important in our fast-paced world. She takes special interest in techniques that help reduce symptoms of anxiety and over-stimulation, as well as depression. Some techniques that Megan enjoys implementing are deep breathing, meditation, music, sensory earplugs, vitamins/medication, essential oils, adjusting lighting, nature walks, and animal therapy. Other very important things that Megan likes to practice are positive-self talk and finding at least three things to be grateful for each day.

Prior to her nursing experience, Megan worked as a social work case manager and as a behavioral therapist with a focus in applied behavior analysis (ABA). As a case manager and behavioral therapist, she provided personalized guidance, treatment plans, and tools/resources to set my clients up for success in their everyday lives. Megan has experience working at a clinic that specializes in integrative medicine and managing anxiety/stress, depression, weight loss, gut health, and hormone therapy. Additionally, she has experience working at a skilled nursing facility and hospital in Madison, WI where there is an emphasis on both mental and physical well-being.

Megan is a Registered Nurse and holds a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree. She is planning on returning to school to complete a Post-Master’s Certificate in Psychiatric-Mental Health and obtain her Nurse Practitioner license.
